Anna Fairchild Tidwell

Funeral services for Anna Fairchild Tidwell, 86, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 25, 2018, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. David Willoughby officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Tidwell was born on April 29, 1931 in Watson, Arkansas, and passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018, in Monroe, LA. She taught Sunday School to Eighth Grade and High School girls for many years, at the First Baptist Church in Lake Providence, LA, and then at the First Baptist Church in Rayville, LA. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her Christian faith was her strength and an inspiration to everyone. She was baptized at age 12, and attended church up until her health worsened. She was an outspoken witness for Christ even in the last days of her life, and she will not be forgotten. She was also a licensed insurance agent and co-owner of Tidwell & Tidwell Insurance Agency.

Mrs. Tidwell was preceded in death by her parents, Chester Fairchild and Lucy Johnson Fairchild; granddaughter, Christa Marie Everett; brothers, Chester LaMarcus Fairchild and Tom Charles Fairchild.

Survivors include her husband, Hugh Orien Tidwell; children, Roxana Tidwell Barrow and husband Dr. Emile Barrow, Jr., Susan Tidwell Foley and husband Robert G. Foley, John Hugh Tidwell, and David Brin Tidwell and wife Evelyn Tidwell, all of Monroe, LA; sisters, Ruth Johnson Sivils and husband Stan of Bastrop, LA, Eddie Mae Ogden of Harrisonburg, LA, Sarah Malone of Ball, LA, Agnes Wickham of West Monroe, LA, and Susie Whittington and husband Joe of Charleston, AR; grandchildren, Angela Susanna Fortenberry, Robin Ann Wren, Ben Orien Tidwell, Luke B. Rutledge, and Katie Tidwell Wilson and husband Jacob; great grandchildren, Kade Fortenberry, Lyla Anna-Marie Fortenberry, and Collin Elizabeth Tidwell.

Pallbearers will be Lester Johnson, Todd Johnson, Ben Tidwell, Jacob Wilson, Robert G. Foley, and Dr. Emile Barrow, Jr.

Visitation will be 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 25, 2018, at the funeral home.
