James Marvin Rodman, Sr.

Funeral services for James Marvin Rodman, Sr., 85, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 11:30 AM, Friday, January 26, 2018, at Lakeshore Baptist Church, Monroe, LA, with Rev. William Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Mr. Rodman was born October 13, 1932 and passed away on January 22, 2018. James was a devoted member of Lakeshore Baptist Church, where he served in the role of Deacon. He is a retired sergeant from the Louisiana State Police with over 25 years of service, graduate of Bastrop High School, and an LSU alumni for the Traffic Management Institute. He was also a veteran of the US Navy where he fought in the Korean War. After retiring from the State Police in 1980, he went to work for the OPSO in which he retired in 1997. He married the love of his life, Teressa Rodman, in 1953 and was happily married for 64 years. He was a life member of VFW 1809 and the American Legion LB Faulk Post 13. Additionally, he was a member of the Freemasons Fraternal Organization.
Mr. Rodman was preceded in death by his son, Jeremy Rodman; parents: father, Amos David Rodman and mother, Frances Spencer; brother, Louis Rodman; sister, Peggy Rodman; and son-in-law, Lane Townsend.
Survivors include his wife, Teressa Rodman; son, James Marvin Rodman, Jr. (Linda); daughters, Donna Freeland (Jerry), and Peggy Townsend; grandchildren, Justin, Jared, and Jacob Johnson, Vanessa Conley (Bennie), Eric Nutt (Anni), Joshua Nutt (Jessica), Missy Stockton (Michael); seven great-grandchildren; sister, Pat Magee; and honorary brothers, Bobby Dale and Luther Church.
Pallbearers will be Eddie and Michael Gorden, Joey and Shane Trichell, Preston Church, and Rick Washington.
Visitation will be 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, Friday, January 26, 2018, at Lakeshore Baptist Church.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to First Choice Hospice, Dr. Amullah, Dr. Moussa, his special companions from the VA- Tori, Kat, and Kenny, and June from Louisiana Extended Care.
Memorials may be made to Lakeshore Baptist Church or LB Faulk American Legion Post 13.
