Funeral services for Mr. A.V. Ellis, 81, of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday October 24, 2013 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA, with Rev. Terri Trichel officiating. Interment will be in Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe, LA.
A.V. was born on August 29, 1932 in Clear Lake near Rayville, LA, to Eugene Ellis of Walnut Grove, Mississippi and Mary Hammond Ellis Matheny of Shreveport, LA. A.V. passed from this life on October 22, 2013 at his home of 36 years after a lengthy illness.
A.V. held many occupations. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Korea. He retired as the manager from Joyce Crane. A.V. loved being outside and especially boating. He was an avid hunter and was a member of Big Ben Hunting Club. He was a member of the NRA, Ducks Unlimited and the Moose Lodge. A.V. loved music and a big supporter of his grandson, Brandon an aspiring musician. He loved being with friends and family. A.V. is preceded in death by his parents, sister, JoAnn Corrent, and brother James Ellis.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Betty Ellis; daughter, Ronda Harvey; grandchildren, Brandon Harvey and wife Paula, Brandy Harvey and husband Jeff Culpepper; two great grandchildren, Kaylee and Jaden Culpepper; special loved one Chasity Stringer and her son Bentley Brown.
Pallbearers will be Bill Thurston, Travis Reynolds, Donald Duncan, Donald Duncan, Jr., Tracy Hinton and Mike Parks.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Culpepper, Hank Thurston, Richard Lemoine, Jim McIntosh, and Hank Williams
Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
