Mrs. Moore was born April 4, 1928, in Mobile, Alabama, and passed away Sunday, January 13, 2019, at St. Francis Medical Center. She grew up in San Juan, Puerto Rico; Trinidad, West Indes; Piedmont, California; San Mateo, California; Coral Gables, Florida; and New Orleans, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, William August Cluthe and Alberta Hudson Cluthe; brother, William A. Cluthe, Jr.; son, Robert David Moore; great-granddaughter, Madison Peterson; and husband, James Walker Moore, Jr. She graduated from the University of Alabama with a BFA degree. She married James Walker Moore, Jr. in Mobile, Alabama, in 1951. They had three sons. She is survived by sons, William Walker Moore and wife Annie, and Dr. James Cluthe Moore and wife Kathy; grandchildren, Mary Ann Moore Peterson, Margaret Alberta Moore and husband Bryan Cockey, James Cluthe Moore, Jr. and wife Anna, Aaron August Moore, Daniel Wesley Moore; great-granddaughter, Ansley Madison Griffin; and great-grandsons, Jac Moore, David Cockey, and Graham Moore.

Barbara was a teacher. She taught at St. Paul’s Day School for many years. She also taught United Methodist Women. Jim often told her she was the family cheerleader, eager to encourage and give advice (even when not asked!). He also said she made the very best gumbo. She and husband Jim were active in UMC Volunteers in Mission and putting together presentations for Dulac Community Center, Spanish Speaking Ministry of New Orleans, an Indian church congregation at Broken Bow, Oklahoma, Maua Methodist Hospital in Kenya, Africa, and they also helped to organize a support group for those having lost loved ones through suicide.

Barbara liked painting and she enjoyed water coloring. She also enjoyed playing bridge with a group of friends that stayed together over a span of many years. They were known as the Cute Young Bridge Club.

She and Jim liked to travel. They participated in Elderhostels and exchanged visits with friends that Jim had met in the Netherlands during World War II. She was a loyal friend and saw humor in ordinary things. She often said God’s gift to her was a sense of humor!

The family requests that memorials God’s gifts be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church or to a favorite charity.
