Bennie was born in Jones, Louisiana in 1936 and went to be with his Heavenly Father on October 31, 2011 in Rayville, Louisiana.
He was born to the union of B.D. Haynes and Mamie Armstrong Haynes. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Pauline Haynes McMullen. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 55 years, Elizabeth McCarty (Beth) Haynes, his son and daughter-in-law, Tony Haynes and Sue W. Haynes, Bastrop, Louisiana. Two grandchildren, Katie Haynes Lee and her husband Austin Lee, Vicksburg, Mississippi, and grandson Alan Haynes, Bastrop, Louisiana. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Fred McMullen, Princeton, Louisiana, sisters-in-law, Shirley M. Wall, Rayville, Louisiana, Barbara M. Frehe and husband David, Houston, Texas, and brother-in-law, David McCarty and wife, Ronna, Bastrop, Louisiana, and numerous Haynes and Armstrong cousins and other relatives whom he loved very much.
Bennie was very active in his church and community. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Rayville, the Kiwanis Club, Chennault Aviation and Military Museum, and Oregon California Trails Association. He loved all things western and enjoyed visiting the places he had studied. He loved people and loved to entertain and help cook for large groups. He was very skilled with his hands and took pleasure in working with leather and saddle repair.
Bennie was a very energetic and creative individual who was always seeking a new challenge. He owned and operated several businesses in northeast Louisiana for over 43 years including Rayville Vet Supply, Twin City Vet Supply and Twin City Storage. He created Delta Textiles Mfg. It grew under his management until its sale in 2000. He was also a partner in Rayville Self Storage.
He was loved by so many and will be greatly missed, leaving a void in the hearts and lives of all his friends and associates. He was an inspiration not only to others who were valiantly battling cancer, but to all who saw him display such a calm and secure Christian faith.
The Haynes family would like to thank all friends and church families in Rayville and surrounding areas for the concern and many, many prayers which were offered up on his behalf and for the visits, phone calls, cards and all acts and thoughts of love demonstrated by so many.
