Funeral services celebrating the life of Mrs. Chandra Malini Herman Ferdinandez, 73, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday January 13, 2021 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA with religious leaders officiating. Her wishes were to be cremated following the services.

Mrs. Herman Ferdinandez passed away January 09, 2021 at St. Francis Medical Center after a sudden illness.

Mrs. Herman Ferdinandez enjoyed being outdoors in her garden with her husband and providing fruit and vegetables for her family and friends. She was an amazing cook, and everyone who came by her house appreciated her warm, delicious meals that tasted just like home. Everyday, from the moment she woke up to the time she went to bed, she took incredible care of those around her, especially her grandchildren, and she did it with great happiness. Malini was like a mother to her grandchildren as well as everyone who met her. In her eyes, there was no such thing as a stranger. She had love for everyone inside her heart and was known for being very selfless, generous, and humble. Her dimpled smile and contagious laughter would light up a room the moment she walked in and touched the hearts of many. Even in her final weeks, Malini made sure everyone was happy, healthy and taken care of. Her bubbly personality, kind nature, and beautiful soul will never be forgotten.

Survivors: her husband of 49 1/2 years, Somapala Herman Ferdinandez; Sons, Lilantha Herman Fernandez and his wife, Anuradha Thadur and Nalin Manjula Herman Ferdinandez and his wife, Ruwani Herman Ferdinandez; Grandchildren, Akithma Jansi Herman Ferdinandez , Sandithmee Vathnara Herman Ferdinandez , Minul Nethmira Herman Ferdinandez , Sihath Malitha Herman Ferdinandez; Brother, Walter Thalagala; Sisters - Rani Halahakone and Mallika Chitrasena; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN
