Claven Glenn Shipp

Funeral services celebrating the life of Mr. Claven Glenn Shipp, 79, of West Monroe, LA will be held at Noon Friday January 29, 2021 at Christian Life Church in Monroe, LA with Rev. Danny Chance and Rev. Artie Beebe officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Garden in Calhoun, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until service time Friday at Christian Life Church. If you are unable to attend, the service will be live streamed at www.clcmonroe.org.

Claven was born December 12, 1941, to the union of Guy and Elsie Shipp. He passed away Saturday January 23, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy illness.

Claven, affectionately known as Dad and Papaw, was born in Caldwell Parish, La and later moved to Willits, California, where he graduated from Willits High School in 1960. While living in Willits, he met the love of his life, Elizabeth. During high school, he was a standout football player. After he graduated, He and Liz were married and made their home in West Monroe, LA.

Claven was a member of Christian Life Church in Monroe, LA for over 50 years. He was an extraordinary Sunday school teacher for many years. He also served on the church board for many years.

He retired from Entergy, as Yard Foreman after 30 plus years of service.

Claven and Liz enjoyed traveling with their best friends, Austin and Margaret Eubanks and playing dominos. He enjoyed the outdoors spending time with his family fishing and hunting. Papaw loved family time. He always had a smile and joke waiting for you.

Left to cherish is memory his wife of 61 years, Mrs. Elizabeth G. (Liz) Shipp; children, Eddie Glenn Shipp, Pamela Renee Heard (Bill), Joyce Beth Beebe (Art); Sister, Barbara Ann Frost (Glenn); Grandchildren, Cherie Siratt (Mark), Byron Boothe (Courtney), Justin Shipp, Kacie Beebe, Tracie Mendolia (Bryant), Koby Boothe, Sara Beth Shipp, Nicholas Boothe, and Landin Beebe; great grandchildren, Emma and Hudson Siratt, Ethan and Addison Shipp, Tinley Mendolia and one on the way.

Pallbearers will be Justin Shipp, Koby Boothe, Nick Boothe, Landin Beebe, Byron Boothe, Hudson Siratt, Jeff Frost and Darrell Frost. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dub Dycus, Donnie McManus, Robert Guess, Jimmy Myers, and his best friend and cousin (the late Austin Eubanks).

Memorials may be made to Christian Life Church 6680 Frontage Road Monroe, La 71202.

The family would like to give their gratitude to Caring Hands Hospice for taking such wonderful care of our Dad and Papaw.
