Funeral Services for Mr. Corbet Maurice Gilbert, 76, of Calhoun, LA will be 10:00 AM Friday, September 17, 2010 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with Gilbert Michael Kerrigan officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Calhoun.

Mr. Gilbert was born January 10, 1934 in Clarks, LA and passed away on September 15, 2010 in Monroe, LA. He worked at what was Brown Paper Mill in 1953 and retired 42 years later to what was Riverwood Inc. the same company. Mr. Gilbert coached little boy’s baseball at Dixie Youth for 26 years and also at Ridgedale Academy for 3 years. He definitely enjoyed watching his youngest grandson play baseball. He loved to play golf until his health would not allow to play. He was a wonderful husband of almost 60 years. He loved his God and his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Newt and Lennie Gilbert; and brother, James Clifford Gilbert.

He is survived by his wife, Polly Gilbert; children, Pat and David Watson of Kimberly City, MO, Connie and Mike Kerrigan of Eufaula, AL, and Sandy and Tim O’Neal of West Monroe, LA; grandchildren, Ronny and Kirsten Savage of Minden, LA, Kristy and Bubba McKeithen of West Monroe, LA, Angie and Jason Raley of Monroe, LA, Gilbert and Kate Kerrigan of Laffette, IN, Randy Kerrigan of Birmingham, AL, and Ty O’Neal of West Monroe, LA; great-grandchildren, Raymond Scott, Bianca Scott, Max Raley, Cole Kerrigan, and Beau Kerrigan.

Pallbearers will be Phil Brown, Tommy Powell, Stan Fortenberry, Ray Scharf, Craig Pate, and Carl Allison. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Kerrigan, Tim O’Neal, David Watson, Gilbert Kerrigan, Randy Kerrigan, Ronny Savage, and Ty O’Neal.

Visitation will be 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.

The family would like to thank St. Francis Medical Center’s doctors, nursing staff, speech therapist department, the Home Assistance sitters and staff. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that you please make donations in his name to: Whites Ferry Road Church of Christ Benevolent Department and McClendon Baptist Church New Children’s Building.
