Funeral service for David Burdett Wright, 87, will be  2:00 PM Saturday, November 27, 2010 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road.
 
Mr. Wright was born on April 16, 1923 to Mary Burdett Wright and Charles Warford Wright in Trenton, NJ. He passes peacefully on November 24, 210 after a lengthy illness. David grew up in Pompton Lakes, NJ, graduated from high school there and attended Rutgers University until World War II interrupted his college education.
 
David was a veteran of World War II. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1942 and was stationed at Barksdale Aire Force Base in Bossier City for his basic training. He served in the 474th bomb squadron as a gunner in air missions from the Aleutian Islands. He was store manger of Shaw Oxygen Company for 47 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and fisherman. His greatest pleasure in life was spending time with his family and entertaining friends with his master storytelling abilities.
 
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Barbara Ann Wingo Wright, Four children: Michael David Wright and wife Becky, Glenn Burdett Wright and wife Rennee, David Burdett Wright, Jr. and wife Paula, and Debbie Wright Rainwater and Fiancée Chuck Adams,  Nine grandchildren: David Scott Rainwater and wife Sarah, Stephen Lee Rainwater, Shelby Anne Wright, Whitney Elizabeth Wright, Sara Wright, Chandler Wright, Scott Wright, Benjamin Corrie and Derrick Corrie and one great grandson, David Scott Rainwater, Jr.. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charles W. Wright.
 
In lieu of flowers, please make any memorials to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church or St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
 
Visitation will be 5:00 PM Until 7:00PM Friday, November 26, 2010 at the funeral home on Sterlington Rd..
