Deuel Coily Smith

Funeral Services for Mr. Deuel Coily Smith, 95, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 23, 2011 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA with Dr. Mark Fenn and Rev. Charles Martindale officiating. Interment will follow in the Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe, LA.
Mr. Smith was born on November 8, 1915 in Oak Grove, MS and passed away on September 20, 2011 in West Monroe, LA. He was a member of First Baptist Church of West Monroe, and was also an ordained deacon. Deuel was a Past Master of Western Star Masonic Lodge and also a Scottish Rite. He was a Past Patron of Annie D. Bennett, Order of the Eastern Star, West Monroe, LA and was a charter member of the Barak Shrine Temple. Deuel served in the United States Army during WWII, stationed in France and in many other special places. He is preceded in death by his son, Rev. Deuel Smith, Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Stancil Smith; son, Don B. Smith; step-daughter, Billie Jean Christy; step-son, Jimmy Mack Stancil, Sr.; grandchildren, Cai Smith, Sheri and Jennifer Smith, Dewayne Christy, Ginger Willis, Belinda Hamilton, Jimmy Mack Stancil, Jr. and Ronnie Stancil; six great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; and special sister-in-law, Sue Istre.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Mack Stancil, Sr., Jimmy Mack Stancil, Jr., Ronnie Stancil, J.C. Christy, Jr., Dewayne Christy, Ed Lamkin, Mark Taylor and Bobby Hayden. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Don Hammett, Bobby Jack Thrailkill, Bobby Wilson and the Howard Sunday School Class.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.
