Funeral Services for Dolph Horton McCleish, 81, of Monroe, will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, August 25, 2013 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Interment will follow at Williamson Cemetery, Sailes, LA. 
A retired educator, he died Friday August 23rd at St. Francis Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born September 26th 1931 in Castor Louisiana in Bienville Parish, he was preceded in death by his parent’s Esther Horton McCleish and Dolph Weston McCleish. 
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Anna Laurie (nee Smith) and two children and their families: daughter, Cynthia McCleish Ingram and husband Gerald and granddaughter Katie (who called him Pop), and son Mike McCleish and wife Sue along with Tarashea and Christopher Robertson all of Monroe. 
As he was an only child, he had adopted the siblings of his wife as his own and they include: Sidney Smith, and Rudolph and June Smith, all of Bossier City; Don and Barbara Smith, Arcadia; Martha Sue (Smith) and Bill Goodnight, Sterlington; Gloria (Smith) and Alvin Bramlett, Arcadia and Clyde J., Jr. (deceased) and Thelma Smith, Shreveport and Jimmie C. (deceased) and Betty Smith, Dallas. 
He was a graduate of Louisiana Tech and Louisiana State Universities and in his early career worked as a teacher and coach in Jamestown, Louisiana and East Baton Rouge Parish schools. He retired from the Education Dept. at Northeast Louisiana University in 1984, and later served as an educational consultant for Arkansas school districts and as a physiological consultant in Monroe. 
He was an avid fan of all sports, especially when it came to LSU and the Saints and was a life-long hunter and outdoorsman. 
He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Monroe. 
Honorary Pallbearers include lifelong friends and fellow Eagle Scouts: James Loe, Henry Thrash, and Dr. Jack Collingsworth as well as friends Jack Brantley, Bobby Stevenson, and James Harold Byrd. 
Pallbearers include: Jimmy Taylor, Paul Frezzell, Wayne Nordman, David Nordman, Shane Dossett, and Randy Watson. 
Visitation will be Saturday, August 24th from 5 to 8 pm at Mulhearn Funeral Home.
