Funeral Services for Mr. Douglas E. Baker, 75, of Downsville, LA will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 30, 2008 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA with Rhonda Brown and Gerald Krause officiating.
Mr. Baker was born in Arizona, LA on March 19, 1933 and passed away at the St. Francis North Medical Center on May 26, 2008. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He also loved wood crafting and gardening. Mr. Baker was very devoted to helping others; he would do for others before doing for himself. He is preceded in death by his parents and by his daughter, Susan Marie Baker McConnell.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Smith Baker; children, Cindy Baker Quarles of West Monroe, LA, Karen Baker Knight of Ruston, LA; step children, Sandra Jean Loftin and husband Gerald of Conover, NC and Ron Dowell of Catauba, NC; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister, Mary Elizabeth Baker Parker of Serepta, LA; brother, James Jewell Baker and wife Peggy of Edenton, NC; special friend, Wayne Woodall and wife Bea of Monroe, LA; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until Service Time on Friday at Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA
In Lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in honor of Mr. Baker’s grandson, Trey Knight
