Edna Odell Crotwell

Funeral services for Edna R. Crotwell, 92, of Monroe, will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at Parkview Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Barnes officiating. Interment will follow at Lynn Cemetery in Archibald, LA under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Mrs. Crotwell died Sunday, November 27, 2011, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Edna  was a member of Parkview Baptist Church since 1964, where she taught third grade Sunday School for many many years. Mrs. Crotwell was a founding member of Selman Field Historical Society, now the  Chennault Aviation Museum. Mrs. Crotwell received her degree in education from Northeast La. State College in 1955 and continued her education receiving her Masters in 1967. She began her career at Shady Grove Elementary teaching first graders in Room 101 for 29 years. One of those years, two of those first graders were her own children, Jim and Sharon, and she also taught two of her grandchildren, Lance and Vance. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority.
Mrs. Crotwell was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, James U. “Jimmy” Crotwell; son, Robert Irvin Crotwell;  son-in-law, Keith Coleman; 8 brothers and sisters, Irvin, Walter, Edgar, Marshall, Alfred, Vera, Ethel, and Maudell.
Survivors include her daughters, Carol Nickelson and husband John, Sharon Coleman; son, Jim Crotwell and wife Lori; sister, Dixie Roberts Moon; grandchildren, Lance Nickelson and wife Laura, Vance Nickelson and wife Jennifer, Malora Coleman, Reagan Crotwell, and Allison Crotwell; four great grandchildren, Thomas Nickelson, Katheryne Nickelson, Addison Nickelson, and Cade Nickelson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Lance Nickelson, Vance Nickelson, Thomas Nickelson, Rodney Moon, Boyce Carter, and Reagan Crotwell.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Memorials may be made to Parkview Baptist Church or the Ouachita Council on Aging.
