Edwin Vanon McMillan

Edwin Vanon McMillan was born August 22, 1923 in Osyka, MS. He went to be with his Lord on January 16, 2015 in Monroe LA. He was preceded in death by his parents Wallie Edwin McMillan and Ethel Mae Schilling McMillan. He leaves his loving memories to be cherished by sons, David K. McMillan (Sherri) of Monroe LA., Ronald E. McMillan of Los Angeles, CA and daughter, Deborah M. Fowler of West Monroe, LA. Grandsons, James M. Anders (Dianne) and Richard H. Anders (Lynne) of Sterlington, LA and Daniel A. Sledge, III (Mary) of Haile, LA. Eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was a US Army veteran of World War II, European Theater. Following the war, he returned to Monroe, LA. After a 35 year career with Bell South, he returned to his family home in Progress, MS He was a faithful member of Progress Baptist Church. He also enjoyed serving with a church-building mission group. Honorary pallbearers will be members of his Mens Sunday School Class. Visitation will be held 3:00-5:00 p.m., Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Catchings-Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit, MS with funeral services at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 19. Interment will follow at Progress Church Cemetery. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the dedicated staff of the Northeast Louisiana War Veterans Home of Monroe, LA, for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Progress Baptist Church, 1010 Progress Church Road, McComb, MS, 39648.
