Erma Lee Crowell Blume

Funeral services for Erma Lee Crowell Blume, 86, will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, June 24, 2011, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, with Rev. Damon Heinrich officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Blume died on June 20, 2011 in Asheville, NC. She was a native of Eros, Ouachita Parish LA and the daughter of Julian James Crowell and Clemmie Coon. Previous residences were in Maryland, Eros and West Monroe in Louisiana, and Asheville in North Carolina. She was a member of Walnut Grove Methodist Church and attended Asbury United Methodist Church in West Monroe.

Her working career was for the Hecht-May Company, Highs Dairy Store, Grants and Hutzler’s department stores. She also worked at an ammunitions plant during WWII in Louisiana. One of her favorite things to do was to play canasta at the West Monroe Senior Center. Other hobbies were reading, sewing, and gardening. Erma will be greatly missed by family and friends that loved her.

Mrs. Blume was predeceased by her husband, Samuel John Blume, who died in 1997 after 51 years of marriage.

Survivors include her two sons, William Rogers Blume and Charles Julian Blume; daughter-in-law, Janet Blume; two grandsons, Rogers and John; great-grandson, Timmy Carr; sisters, Media Sanders and Elve Owens; and brother, Irvin Crowell.

She is predeceased by her brother, Raymond Crowell and sister, Elaine Dowdy.

Pallbearers will be John Blume, Raymond Crowell, Darrell Owens, Ronald Crowell, Bobby Tinsley and Bobby Wade.

Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
