Ernest L. Eubanks born in Rayville, LA February 3, 1924 lead a wonderful life.

After high school Ernest was inducted into the Army Air Corp June 1943. He was trained as mechanic and gunner on the B-24 and flew one bombing mission over Germany. Honorably discharged in March 1946 as Staff Sergeant, he then attended college from 1946 until 1947. In June 1947 he started work at the International Paper Mill, first as a fireman for two years then as an electrician for 27 years. He retired on his birthday in 1986. After retirement from the mill he became a green thumb in gardening.

Ernest felt a calling to minister to others. He started going to prisons and realized there was a huge need for pastors to reach out to those in prison. He started the “Set Free Ministries”. This program has over 25 men and 13 women that minister every Sunday to the jails and prisons throughout the North Louisiana area. Ernest loved preaching to anyone he came in contact with. He brought hundreds to salvation. He would obtain bibles, or buy them himself, to give to prisoners. He set up the schedule determining which minister would go to which prison. On occasion Ann would accompany him and sing hymns.

These past years, Ernest has been relaxing and is finally free of pain and with other relatives in heaven.

Ernest married Ann Whitsitt on December 9, 1949 and had one son, David Eubanks and two grandchildren, David Eubanks II and Ashley Eubanks.

Pallbearers will be John Pahal, Gregg Yoes, Cletus Davis, Charles Sauvell, Marty Earnest, and Lonnie Celesten.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2:30 PM until service time at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Foundation.
