Graveside Services for Mrs. Florence Maurie Foster, 89, of West Monroe, LA will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, April 28, 2011, at Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens, West Monroe with Rev. Skip Dean officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.

She was a member of Highland Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a stay at home Mom for the early years of her sons’ lives and later became Secretary and Treasurer of the family business, State Auto Recovery Bureau of West Monroe. She was well known for her beautiful yard and her love of gardening and fishing. Her talent as a seamstress was greatly admired by her friends, and loved ones can also attest to the fact that she was a very good cook. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Maurie Foster was born on December 5, 1921, in Ruston, LA and passed away on April 25, 2011. She was a 1939 Graduate of Ruston High School. She married Henry Carl Foster, Jr. of West Monroe, LA, in 1939. She lived at the same address in West Monroe for 70 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, her parents Algin and Selma Jiles, a son, Richard Foster, and brother, Dr. Charles W. Jiles.

She is survived by her son Robert Foster of West Monroe, LA, and four grandchildren, Julie Ann Hutchinson of Columbia, LA, Richard Collier Foster of Farmerville, LA, Katherine Marie Scillers of Calhoun, LA, and Barbara Ann ”Barbie” Foster of Farmerville, LA, six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers Robert A. Jiles, Jr. of Spearsville, LA, and Morgan R. Jiles of Covington, LA, three sisters, Claudia McInnis of Cotton Valley, LA, Mary Graves of West Monroe, LA, and Doris Smith of Bothell, WA, and numerous nieces and nephews and many, many, friends. Last but not least, Maurie is survived by her beloved dog and faithful companion Mamie.

Visitation is from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
