Graveside services for George Lobrano, 89, of Mangham, LA will be 2 PM Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Gwin Cemetery-Mangham, with Rev. Gary Courtney officiating. Interment follows in the cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home-Rayville, LA.
Mr. George was a lifelong resident of Mangham except for a brief stint as a cowboy on a large ranch in Texas. He was a member of the Mangham United Methodist Church and a retired Louisiana State Game Warden. He also farmed, both full-time and “on the side” for most of his life. In his retirement years, he spent many mornings as the unofficial early-morning manager of the hardware store in Mangham, where he “held court” and, along with his friends, solved many of the world’s problems—at least, in their opinion. He was quick-witted and enjoyed poking fun at others, while still showing the good humor to take his own licks.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Fannie Lobrano, his son Clint Lobrano, five brothers, and one sister.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Billie Jean Thomason Lobrano of Mangham, LA; son, Wyatt Lobrano and his wife Carol of Alto, LA; grandchildren, Erica McMillian of Colorado Springs, CO and Ryan Lobrano of Baton Rouge, LA; three great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be D. B. McKay, Roy Weston, Roy Wiggins, Carl Childress, Lil Roy Wiggins, Mark Wiggins, Barron Gill, Ralph Abraham, Billy Connen, Stephen Thames, and Will Vaughn.
Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Friday, March 1, 2013 at the funeral home in Rayville, LA
