Harold Travis Priestly III

Funeral services for Harold Travis Priestley III, 65, of Olla, LA formerly of Perryville, LA, will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 2, 2011, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with family friend Glenn Gore and Rev. David Chapman officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery.

Mr. Priestley passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at Glenwood Regional Medical Center. He was a U. S. Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam War, an avid sportsman, and a Hunter Education Instructor where he was named Instructor of the Year for the state of Louisiana for several years. Mr. Priestley loved golfing, was a baseball coach for Osterland Recreation Center, and coached with Tim McGraw. He received several Table Tennis Championships and was an official Boone and Crockett scorer.

Mr. Priestley was preceded in death by his father, William Priestley; and mother, Maude Priestley.

Survivors include his former wife of thirty-nine years, Mary Lou Perry; one son, Chad Priestley; daughter, Holly Priestley and fiancé Eric Herpin; two grandchildren, Hailey and Wesley Priestley; two sisters, Vicki Stamper and husband Glenn, and Peggy Vallery and Lane Bush; plus numerous nieces and nephews, devoted friend and care giver, Amanda Cockerham; and last but not least his pup, Gus.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Stamper, Jason Stamper, Chris Vallery, Lane Bush, Daniel O’Neal, and Parnell Perry. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Stamper, George Stamper, Josh Cockerham, and Sam Cockerham.

Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

The family wishes to express their sincerest appreciation to Rita Billingsly, Harold’s Home Health nurse for all she did for Harold; to the staff of nurses at Glenwood Hospital for their excellent care, and to all the doctors and staff at the VA Hospital in Shreveport; plus, all the doctors and nurses at the West Monroe Dialysis Center for all their kindness.
