Hazel Marie Sellers Hanvey

Funeral services for Hazel Marie Sellers Hanvey, 84, of Monroe, will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 3, 2011, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Gabriel Krell officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Hazel Marie Sellers Hanvey was born on July 6, 1927 in Fitzpatrick, AL to Kathleen DeLacy Haddock and Jefferson Stuckey Sellers. She graduated from the University of Alabama in 1949. She was a member of Parkview Baptist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the American Colonists, Daughters of Colonial Wars, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Women on Mission, Twin City Study Club, and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Hanvey, a retired home economics teacher, died Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Rayville.

Mrs. Hanvey was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Frank Wood Hanvey; and five sisters, Valeria Sellers, Dorothy Hovater, Martha Godfrey, Minnie Sauls, and Sara Osteen.

Survivors include her daughters, Angela Sellers Hanvey Hales and husband Myrt T. Hales, Jr. of Rayville, and Dr. Jan Kathleen Hanvey Fairchild and husband William McCray Fairchild of Denham Springs, LA; four grandchildren, Myrt T. Hales III of New Orleans, LA, Jan Marie Hales of Birmingham, AL, Kathleen DeLacy Fairchild a student at Louisiana College in Pineville, LA, and Mattie Louise Fairchild of Denham Springs, LA; one sister, Ouida Lorene Sellers Moore and husband Gurnia Moore of Montgomery, AL; two brothers-in-law, J. Vernon Godfrey of Montgomery, AL, and John Osteen of Lynchburg, VA; dear friends, John and Carolyn Casey of Heflin, AL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jay Adams, Don Anzelmo, Jimmy Crotwell, James Hall , George Johns, and Mickey Traweek.

Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 PM until service time at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
