Janie Elizabeth Bartet Scott

Janie Elizabeth Bartet Scott, 70, of Shreveport, LA, died Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at St. Joseph Nursing Home, Monroe, LA after a courageous battle with a traumatic injury she suffered 3 years prior.
Janie attended Louisiana State University and Northeast Louisiana University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and then went on to teach first grade at Sally Humble Elementary. She and her family later moved to Shreveport where she dedicated herself to her home and family.
Janie is preceded in death by her parents Hubert P. Bartet and Evelyn Mead Bartet; her sister Lee Bartet Collins and brother-in-law Mike Collins; and nephew Jason Simon.
She is survived by her daughter Evelyn Scott Johnson, son-in law Jeff Johnson, grandson Drew Johnson, and granddaughter Abigail Johnson; son Thomas H. Scott, III (Tommy), daughter-in-law Leslie Griffin Scott, and grandsons Griffin, Elliott and Oliver Scott; her brothers Richard Bartet, Preston Bartet and sister Marion Bartet Simon as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA, with her brother-in-law Jay Simon officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Scott, Jeff Johnson, Drew Johnson and nephews John Michael Collins, David Collins and Peter John Simon. Honorary pallbearers are Griffin, Elliott and Oliver Scott; Richard and Preston Bartet; and Paul Sartori.
Visitation will be at Mulhearn Funeral Home Sunday, October 27, 2013 from 1-3 p.m.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to Janie’s devoted caregivers over the past 3 years: Ann Averitte, Mitzi Lewis, LaTonya Lewis, Maria Webb, Rebekah Coates, Julie Henderson and Ashley Jordan and all of the wonderful staff at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home.
