Jasper Haddad

Funeral services for Jasper Haddad, 90, of Monroe, will be held Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, Monroe, Louisiana, with The Reverend Cannon Greg Riley and The Reverend John Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

Jasper Haddad passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2012 in Monroe, Louisiana of natural causes.  He was born June 11, 1921 in Dermott, Arkansas.  He lived a full and active life as a business man and avid outdoor sportsman, and was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Monroe. Following graduation at Neville High School and entering Aircraft Engine Technology College in Memphis, he was first employed by the former Chicago & Southern Airlines in Memphis, Tennessee, as an aircraft engine line maintenance chief overhauling military aircraft engines during World War II. Following the war he moved back to Monroe, Louisiana, and was a successful merchant in the retail hardware and appliance business for 50 years.  He earned numerous outstanding dealership sales awards during his career as a retailer and was recognized as the largest in single store sales volume during a single year in 13 states with the Maytag Corporation.

His love of fishing and duck hunting brought together many new friends and acquaintances and years of fond memories. He hunted and fished from early youth into the last year of his life and taught many young people to fish and hunt throughout the years earning him a place with other outstanding sportsmen in the area. He had the deepest gratitude for the friendship of all the McGowan Brake Club hunters and fishermen, especially Kent & Yvonne Anderson, Mark Anderson, Scott Anderson, and all the Anderson family members.  Jasper was one of the charter members and founders of the Church located at King’s Lake Subdivision on Lake D’Arbonne in Union Parish.  He was an Usher and on the maintenance committee of Grace Episcopal Church.

Jasper Haddad is preceded in death by his parents Jinar O. and Abraham Haddad, seven brothers, Joseph, William, Pete, Cotham, Icer, Zeke, and Julius and one sister, Sarah Haddad Mickel. He is survived by his wife Joyce Inez Haddad, daughter Holly Jan Haddad of Dallas, Texas, son Jon Jasper Haddad and wife Sharen of Monroe, Louisiana; grandchildren, Courtney Fieber of Austin, Texas, and Tess Osborne of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until service time in Kilbourne Hall at Grace Episcopal Church. 

The family requests that memorials be made to Grace Episcopal Church.
