Interment will follow with military honors at the Hasley Cemetery Memorial Pavilion, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA.

Mr. Madden died July 1, 2022, at the Landmark Nursing Home in West Monroe, LA.

Mr. Madden was a member of White’s Ferry Road Church in West Monroe, LA.

Jerry was a modern day “Renaissance Man” in both his personal and professional life. He held professional licenses as a Civil Engineer, Architect, and Land Surveyor in at least 15 states throughout his career. After graduating in civil engineering from Louisiana Tech University (Louisiana Polytechnic Institute) in 1965, he worked for engineering/architecture firms in Shreveport and Dallas. Following the move to West Monroe in 1970, Jerry was owner or co-owner of several engineering firms: Jenkins & Madden; Jenkins, Madden, and Lazenby; Madden and Associates; and Madden Engineering. In 1980, he joined S. E. Huey Co. in Monroe, where he remained as owner and Vice President until his death.

Throughout his long and varied career, Jerry designed such noteworthy projects as the Pecanland Mall fly ramp, the Ike Hamilton Exposition Center, the West Monroe Public Works Complex, Kiroli Park pedestrian bridge and facilities, Restoration Park spillway and bridge, the Monroe River Market, the Penn Hotel and Vantage office building renovations, James Machine Works improvements, and building improvements for White’s Ferry Road and Sterlington Churches of Christ. He was very proud to have served the City of West Monroe as City Engineer 1984 to 2012.

In later years, Jerry’s vast knowledge made him sought-after as an “expert witness” by many attorneys. The many young engineers whom he mentored would say that he was always a master teacher; however, he was privileged to officially serve that role as an instructor in the School of Construction Management at ULM from 2015 to 2021.

No matter how big or small the project, Jerry treated each as if they were his own, serving his clients with tireless effort and the highest integrity. There is no doubt he utilized his God-given talent and intellect to their fullest and made the world a better place.
