Funeral Services for John Marion Pardue, 68, are scheduled for 10 AM, Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at the Alto Baptist Church with Dr. Alan Miller and Reverend David Shirley officiating, interment to follow in Alto Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at the Alto Baptist Church under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home-Rayville
John was born October 1, 1944 and was a lifelong resident of the community of Alto, Louisiana.
John was a well-known farmer and agri-businessman. John graduated from Mangham High School and attended Northeast Louisiana College. He served in the United States Air Force from May, 1967 until January, 1971 when he returned home to help his brother David manage the family farm following the death of their father. John was a Viet Nam veteran having served during 1968-1969 in Korat and Takhli, Thailand. He was an avid sportsman. On his retirement from farming his friends asked what he planned to do. He replied, “When I’m fishing, I’ll be thinking about hunting and when I’m hunting, I’ll be thinking about fishing.”
John is preceded in death by his parents, Eula Lee Jowers and Carl Wilburn Pardue, his brother David Wilburn Pardue and his sister Mattie Sue Pardue West. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn, his daughter, Marian Pardue Bender and her husband Dave, and by his son, Edward Froman Pardue and his wife Jennifer. He is survived by grandchildren, Jane Kathryn Bender, Anna Grace Bender, Cole Ware Pardue and Lillia Elaine Pardue. John is also survived by his brother, Ashley Pardue and wife Linda Pardue as well as a niece and several nephews.
Pallbearers will be Hugh Crawford Watson, III, David Joseph Branch, Francis Victor Jordan II, James Harrell, Elbert Earl Hill and Darryl G. Gregory.
Memorials may be made to the Alto Baptist Church Building Fund, the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home or the charity of your choice.
