Jonathan Brian (J.B.) Cohen

October 19, 1965 — August 20, 2012

A private memorial service for Jonathan Brian (J.B.) Cohen, age 46 of St, Louis, MO, will be held at the Rosena Chapel at the Jewish Cemetery in Monroe, LA, on Sunday, August 26, 2012.  Visitation will be at the home of his parents, Melvin and Nanette Cohen, Monroe, LA,  from 2-4 PM on Saturday, August 25, 2012.

Jonathan was born October 19, 1965 in Terre Haute, IN, and passed away August 20, 2012, in St. Louis, MO.

He was a graduate of River Oaks High School and the University of Louisiana at Monroe.  He graduated from St. Louis University with a masters in social work degree.  Upon his graduation from St. Louis University, Jonathan was named Outstanding Social Work Student of the Year.  He practiced as a licensed social worker in St. Louis. His social work career centered on assisting abused children and homeless veterans.

Jonathan was an avid sportsman and volunteered at local animal shelters.  He also enjoyed being with his friends in Prairie du Rocher, IL.

Jonathan Cohen is survived by his parents, Melvin and Nanette Cohen; brother and sister in law, Jason and Amy Cohen; sister and brother in law, Amy and Brian Katz; nephews, Taylor and Grayson Cohen; niece Samantha Rose Cohen; and special dear friend Sue Narrow and her daughter Rachelle Narrow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association, Temple B’Nai Israel, or the charity of your choice.
