Funeral Services for Mr. Joseph Morrison Young, 79, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 30, 2013 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA with Dr. Clarice Fluitt officiating.
Joseph Morrison Young was born in Monroe, LA on October 24, 1933 and died on May 27, 2013. Joe was a tender, gentle giant. He cried easily over someone’s pain or if a pet got hurt. The two mini schnauzer’s adored him. Joe studied the scriptures and the stock market. He followed politics, government and history. Joe laughed silently, his shoulders shook and tears of mirth ran down his cheeks. He was strong, tender, funny, and was a very Godly man who loved his wife, and son very much. He was a good man. Joe is preceded in death by his father, Samuel Gardiner Young and his brother, James R. Brown, M.D.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Mary Nell Averett Young; son, John Gardiner Young; sister-in-law, Claire Brown, Elizabeth Ann Buchanan, Sarah Thomas and Hilda Marie Taylor; nieces and nephews, George Gardiner Brown, Jim Brown, Dr. Ann Whitehurst, Captain Tim Taylor, “Buck” Buchanan, Stacey Taylor, Betsy Taylor, Barbara Smith, Jason Thomas and Shelly Klimp; along with numerous grand nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.
Memorials may be made to the Rays of Sonshine, Monroe, LA Att: Lynn Daniels
A note found that Joe had written to himself, “Heaven is beyond your greatest Expectations.”
