Services for June Hodge Godfrey, 99 will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Monroe with Rev. Tim Neustifter officiating and Dr. Warren Blakeman assisting. Burial will be in the Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. There will be a visitation in the church parlor from 10:00 AM until time of the service.

Mrs. Godfrey died at The Oaks in Monroe, LA .She was born in Calhoun, LA on June 16, 1914 to a prominent pioneer family in Ouachita Parish. Her parents were Dr. Boyd L. and Clara Bryan Hodge.

She attended Northeast Junior College, now University of Louisiana at Monroe, where she co-reigned as the first homecoming queen. Mrs. Godfrey was a member of the Junior League of Monroe, a charter member of the ULM chapter of Alpha Omega Pi sorority, a member of the Monroe Symphony Guild, a charter member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, where she served in the alter guild, the chancel choir, and as president of the United Methodist Women.

Mrs. Godfrey was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 61 years, Thomas Brewer Godfrey, Sr., her sisters, Mary Ellen Hodge and Sarah Hodge Rhymes, and four brothers, Bryan, Irvin A., Jerry L, and Floyd M. Hodge.

Survivors include: two sons, Thomas B. Godfrey, Jr. and wife Patricia R. of Monroe and Dr. James H. Godfrey and wife Laura W. of Piney Flats, TN, six grandchildren; Katharine G. Morgan of Monroe, Thomas Blake Godfrey of Houston, TX, Lynn G. Sharp of Little Rock, AR, Mary G. Hockman of South Orange, NJ, James H. Godfrey, Jr. of Johnson City TN, and Gordon Wyckliffe Godfrey of Los Angeles, CA, 14 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Blake Godfrey, James Hodge Godfrey, Jr., Gordon Wyckliffe Godfrey, Curry Bagwell, Jr., Christopher Bagwell, Tim Hoychick, Ryan Sartor III, and Troy Watters.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Oaks and June’s faithful, loving caregivers, Madge Huff, Lou Phillips, Rosetta Grace, Caroline Rodgers, and Joan Correro.
