Born January 23, 1922, in Welsh, Louisiana, Mrs. Eason passed away on March 19, 2014, in Shreveport, Louisiana at the age of 90. “Kat-leen” as she was fondly called by her grandchildren, entered peacefully into heaven surrounded by her family reading scripture.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elza and Lily Wilson; her husband, Beatle “Bill” Eason; and, her brother, Robert Wilson.
She is survived by her son, Paul Eason and his wife, Janice; her daughter, Gaye Eason Dean and her husband, Jim; by her grandchildren: Christy Albritton and her husband, Jeff; Paul Eason, Jr. and his wife, Margot; and Chad Hill and his wife, Marissa; by her great-grandchildren: Alec and Georgia May Albritton; and her brother, Dick Wilson.
Kathleen grew up in Vinton, Louisiana. She attended Northwestern State University where she met her future husband, Bill. They were married on January 27, 1945. After World War II, Bill and Kathleen moved to Monroe, Louisiana.
Kathleen volunteered for the American Red Cross Gray Ladies Hospital Auxiliary, the Silver Waters Girl Scout Council and North Monroe Hospital Auxiliary. She was active for many years in the La Petite Fleur Garden Club. She enjoyed her family, playing bridge and gardening. Her greatest pleasure was traveling, especially cruising.
Our family would like to thank Dr. Dan Moller and Dr. Sally Ball of Shreveport; Dr. Charles Morgan of Monroe; her companion, Tomette Shivers; and Lucy Grove, our special angel from Willis-Knighton Hospice.
Her services will be directed by Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe. The Funeral Mass will be at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church at 1pm, Saturday, March 22, 2014. Following the Mass, Mrs. Eason will be laid to rest at St. Matthew’s Cemetery next to her husband, Bill.
Serving as pall bearers are: Paul Eason, Jr., Chad Hill, Alec Albritton, John Kelly, Rick Herlevic and Ronny Aaron. Honorary pall bearers will be: Harry Stone, Henry “Hank” Wells and Jeff Albritton.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Kathleen and Bill Eason Endowment Memorial Scholarship at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. The address is 700 University Ave. Monroe, LA 71209.
“Now, take back the soul of Kathleen Eason, whom You have shared with us. She brought us joy…we loved her well. She was not ours.”
