Funeral services for Mr. Leon Buck Colvin, 85, of Monroe, will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, March 2, 2009, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe with Rev. Lindle Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery
Mr. Colvin passed away Friday, February 27, 2009, at St. Francis North Hospital. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of WWII, and a member of New Light Baptist Church. Mr. Colvin retired after 21 years of service as a machinist with Borg Warner in California, then moved to Monroe and became a farmer. His love and passion in life was mechanicing and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Mona Colvin; daughters, Ne Alta Smith and husband Don of Riverside, CA, and Sharon Johnston of Monroe, LA; sons, William (Butch) Colvin of Monroe, LA, and Mike Colvin and wife Debby of West Monroe, LA; eight grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Josh Helm, Jeremy Helm, Steve Williams, Mike Bryant, George Stadter, and Richie May.
Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Memorials may be made to New Light Baptist Church.
