Lynn Wilson Walters

June 20, 1934 — December 22, 2020

Lynn passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 86, after battling the effects of a major stroke in November, 2017. She is now resting in the arms of God.
Born on June 20, 1934, in Pioneer, LA, Lynn was the third of five daughters. She graduated from Central High School in 1952, and shortly before her graduation ceremony, eloped with the love of her life, Jim. She and Jim settled in Baton Rouge, then Houston, TX before moving to Monroe in 1960. She loved the city of Monroe, and lived there until her stroke. Roy and Jenny lovingly took Mom into their home after rehabilitation in March 2018.
Our Mom was a special lady – wife, mother, aunt, dear friend and “Momma Lynn” to her extended circle of family and friends. She loved caring for others. And, she had passions for baking and “working” in her yard. She was a Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a 50+ year member of College Place Baptist Church
Preceded in death by her parents, William Harvey and Faye Wilson; her husband of 56 years, Jim Walters (James Roy, Jr.); her daughter Teresa Walters Gentry, and her four sisters.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Walters Weiermiller and husband Mike, Norwell, MA; her son, Roy Walters (James Roy III) and wife Jenny, Benton, LA; Six grandchildren: Jim Walters (James Roy IV) and wife Sara of Austin, TX; Jeffrey Walters and wife Melissa of St. Louis, MO; Jack Walters and Gray Walters of Benton, LA, Kristal Anzalone and husband Brad of Monroe, LA, Richard Gentry and his wife Kelley of Monroe, LA; Nine great-grandchildren – Emma, Audrey, Claire, Eleanor, Charlotte, Vivian, Teresa Lynn, Bradley, Lilly, James; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Due to COVID, and the desire to keep everyone safe, there will be a graveside service for immediate family over the Christmas holidays. A gathering to celebrate her life will be held for extended family and friends at a later date.
