Mae Ola Parish Wilson (also known as Mama Mae or Granny to her beloved grandchildren), age 93 of Houston, TX, formerly from West Monroe, LA, went on to be with the Lord Monday night, March 25, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.

Mae was born November 23, 1919. She was the oldest of 3 daughters and is preceded in death by parents, Willie and Addie Parish of Coushatta, LA, her husband of 36 years, Bill Wilson, and spouse, Reid Redden, and her sisters, Juanita Butler and Evelyn Lowery.

Mae was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She was an exceptionally good cook and especially enjoyed baking cakes and delicious pies. She loved keeping her yard neat and pretty with seasonal flowers, and she liked to sew. She also owned and operated her own beauty shop on Drago St. for many years. Mae especially enjoyed making memories with her family and starting new traditions such as special family trips with her daughters to Branson.

Mae was a lifelong member of 1st Baptist Church of West Monroe, and Copperfield Baptist Church in Houston, TX, having moved to Houston in 2001.

Anyone who knew Mae enjoyed her sparkling personality, cute sense of humor, and her enthusiasm for life. She appreciated elegance, and she loved to dress up and go to the mall to shop with her daughters. She was a true southern lady in every sense of the word, dressed to the “tee,” a genteel lady who always had her mind on “doing” for others.

Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Grant of Houston, TX; Billie Fontana and her husband, Dr. George Fontana of Houston, TX, and Jane May and her husband, Chris of Eros, LA; 10 grandchildren: Brad Grant and wife, Veronica,  Robert Grant, Jr.;  Jill Fontana Langthorne and husband, Erik, Paige Fontana and husband, Tim Smeby, Paul Fontana, David Fontana, Charles Fontana and wife, Julie; Gregg May and wife, Julie, Tadd May and wife, Jamie, and Brett May; 10 great grandsons and 7 great granddaughters;  and 1 niece and 4 nephews.

Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 28, 2013 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with Rev. Mark Fenn officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held at 1:00 P.M. until Service Time on Thursday.
