Marian Louise LaSuzzo Slavent

October 16, 1925 — June 24, 2014

Funeral services for Marian Louise LaSuzzo Slavent, 88, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, June 27, 2014 at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church with Rev. David T. Richter, Rev. Job Edathinatt, and Rev. Edmund Moore officiating. Interment will follow at St. Matthew Catholic Church Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. 
Mrs. Slavent passed away on June 24, 2014 at Azalea Estates Assisted Living in Monroe, LA. 
Mrs. Slavent was born on October 16, 1925 in New Orleans, La to Martha Scalia LaSuzzo and Joseph LaSuzzo. She had 2 sisters, Martha LaSuzzo Snider and Josephine LaSuzzo Miller, and one brother Joseph LaSuzzo, Jr. When Marian was 2 years old, her Father moved his family to Monroe to seek better employment opportunities. Marian attended Georgia Tucker Elementary School, Neville Jr. High and Neville High School. After graduating from Neville, she attended Monroe Business College for 2 years. Upon graduation she went to work for the Credit Bureau where she worked for 12 years. After her daughter Tieise was born, Marian began working in the Real Estate field where she won many awards. Her success was attributed to her love for people. Marian worked for Faulk and Foster Real Estate and DB Real Estate, Inc. 
In 1995 she was presented an award in appreciation for her outstanding service to The Northeast Louisiana Board of Realtors. She was named Realtor of the year in 2009. Marian was a distinguished member of the Who’s Who Worldwide Registry of Business Leaders. She was a member of the Louisiana State Board of Realtors, American Business Women, The Women’s Council of the Northeast Board of Realtors. She also belonged to many clubs. She was a member of the Note Bene’ Club, Delta Sigma Phi Sorority, American Legion Club, Monroe Bowling Club, Cosmopolitan Dance Club, The Catholic Daughters of America and the Monroe Chapter of Quota International. 
In 2012 she received the Loyalty Award from the Quota Club of Monroe in appreciation of more than 26 years of dedicated service and membership. In 2013 she was awarded a certificate of honorary membership from Quota International of Monroe in recognition of her extraordinary years of service. Marian was a involved member of Jesus The Good Shepherd Church. She retired from Real Estate in 2010. Marian loved her family and friends and worshiped her 2 grandsons Kolby and Daniel and great- granddaughter Emerson. 
Mrs. Slavent was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, George Tom Slavent; brother, Joe “Sonny” LaSuzzo, Jr.; mother, Martha Scalia LaSuzzo; and father, Joe LaSuzzo, Sr. 
Survivors include her daughter, Tieise Ardito and husband Tracey; sisters, Martha Jane Snider and Josephene Miller; grandchildren, Kolby Black and wife Shannon, Daniel Ardito; great granddaughter, Emerson Black; and numerous nieces and nephews. 
Pallbearers will be Ronnie LaSuzzo, Dennis LaSuzzo, Bill McKinney, Zach LaSuzzo, Matt Dickerson, Brian Nola, John Zagone, and Kenneth Miller. 
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a 6:00 PM Rosary, Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. 
The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Scott McClelland and staff, Dr. Greg Green and staff, St. Joseph Hospices, Stat Care, Dr. Frank Weinholt, the staff at Senior Care Center, Her Care Givers: Marie Pleasant, Barbara Hamilton, Angela Rossi, Bobbie Dawkins, Pam Robinson, and Lisa Goldman for loving and caring for her, as well as her Azalea Estates family. 
Memorials may be made to Catholic Daughters, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or charity of your choice.
