Mrs. Keller passed away after a brief illness on July 19, 2011, at her home surrounded by her family and with her new friend and devoted caretaker, Betty Hubbard. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Monroe. Mrs. Keller was born October 15, 1929 in Searcy, AR and raised in Tallulah, LA. Mrs. Keller graduated valedictorian of her senior class at Tallulah High School in 1946. She attended LSU briefly but came home for Thanksgiving break in 1947 and decided to marry her high school sweetheart, Richard L. “Dick” Keller, Jr., in a wedding held on November 28, 1947, just 3 days later.

Mrs. Keller was a lifetime member and Grand Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. Lou worked as a bookkeeper, many years for Burney’s/Trend House Furniture. Lou became involved with various activities at the Ouachita Council on Aging, spending several days a week with her new friends playing bridge. Lou loved sports, especially Neville High School and LSU football were her favorites as well as the Atlanta Braves. For years she traveled to Atlanta or Houston to watch the Braves play.

Mom was known as “Mamaw” to her grandsons and she loved watching them play sports. Mom also loved to travel and had traveled throughout the United States with her sister Billye. Mom was thrilled that she had the opportunity to visit every state in the Union. Mom enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels play in the backyard, loving on her great-grandsons, and cooking for her family.

Mrs. Keller was preceded in death by the love of her life, Richard L. “Dick” Keller, Jr.; father, Virgil Henry Davis; mother, Mary Edith Davis; and sister, Billye I. Davis.
