Nan was preceded in death by her husband-R. L. Norman; her parents-Turner and Neeter T. Branch; brothers- T. B. Branch, Luther Branch, Frank Branch, and Alfred Branch; sisters-Ella Mae Branch Pee and Nettie Branch; and very special friend, Loretta Kenney of Columbia.

She is survived by son-Ray Norman of Vicksburg, MS; daughter-Dr. Kay Norman Chandler of Monroe; and grandson-Kyle Steven Chandler of Monroe, the “Apple of his Granny’s eye”; and sister-Nita Branch Mills of Rayville.

Nan was a very faithful member of Rayville First Baptist Church for over 40 years and taught 4th Grade Boys in Sunday School before moving into the nursery department. She served as chairman of the Lord’s Supper Committee as long as she was able. Nan also enjoyed her Senior Adult Group, “Saint’s Alive”. She didn’t have to tell anyone that she was a Christian because the “Light of the Lord” was always shining through her. Nan helped so many people—took them in to live with her when they had no other place to turn or gave them money to pay a bill, even though her income was limited. She was a single mother, raising two children. Nan was a true Christian in every sense of the word.

After high school, Nan graduated from Bish Mathis Business School in Monroe. Her first real job was with Sun Oil Company of Delhi for 13 years. Later she served as secretary for First Baptist Church of Delhi and then with the Louisiana State Police. Upon moving to Rayville, Nan was Administrative assistant with the Tensas Basin Levee District until her retirement in 1990.

Nan served as Worthy Matron District Deputy and Grand Ruth of the Order of Eastren Star of Louisiana and Grand Representative to State of Florida. She also was a long-time member of Lambda Kappa of Rayville.

Pallbearers will be Jim Adams, Jay Brakefield, Grover Burgess, Steve Chandler, Fred  Lambert, and B. J. McKnight.

Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00AM prior to the funeral.
