Nila Faye Bass Snead

Funeral services for Nila Faye Bass Snead, 89, of Monroe, will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Parkview Baptist Church, Monroe, with Dr. Alan Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

Mrs. Snead passed away at her home Saturday, June 23, 2012. She was born January 21, 1923, in Wisner, LA. She graduated as valedictorian from Wisner High School in 1940, and afterward, went to work as a telephone operator in Jackson, MS. After World War II, she married J. H. Snead, and during their 65 years of marriage, they resided in Shreveport, Dubach, and Monroe, LA.

Mrs. Snead was preceded in death by her parents, F. S. and Minnie Lee Humble Bass; her sisters, Lavonn Ferrington and Maxine Newman; and her brother, F. S. Bass, Jr.

Survivors include her husband, J. H. Snead; daughters, Carol Snead Kennedy and husband Tom Kennedy, Cindy Snead Roland and husband Steve Roland; and son, Rick Snead. She was blessed with 7 grandchildren, Bryna Kennedy Macias and husband Anthony, Sara Kennedy Merkle and husband Ryan, Clayton Roland, Courtney Faye Roland, Amanda Breard, Molly Katherine Snead, and Madelyn Brooke Snead. Completing the family are three great-grandchildren, Shelby Faye Macias, Henry Macias, and Clayton Roland, Jr. She is also fondly remembered by a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Bill Ferrington, Ernie Newman, Steve Roland, Allan Roberts, Wade Dickerson, and Jim Holmes.

Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Parkview Baptist Church, Monroe.

Mrs. Snead was devoted to her Lord and was a long-time member of Parkview Baptist Church. She had a wonderful talent for cooking, especially desserts, and was the best gardener in the family. She could make anything grow. She will be greatly missed by her children and grandchildren, her extended family, and a host of friends.

The family wishes to thank the loving caregivers of PRN Nursing, especially Miss Terry, Jennifer Collins, Jennifer Goodson, and Miss Taneisha.
