Nyleen Elizabeth Bell

Funeral services for Mrs. Nyleen Elizabeth Bell, 74, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 3:00PM Monday, April 25, 2011, at the Covenant Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bruce Rux and Rev. John Mabray officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe.
Mrs. Bell was born in Ripley, MS on June 21, 1936 and passed away on April 22, 2011 at her residence. She was a member of the Alto Presbyterian Church, where she was a organist and bible study leader. Mrs. Bell was a past leader of the Junior Girl Scouts and the Cub Scouts. She was a member of the Monroe Symphony League, Monroe Garden Club, and the Little Theatre of Monroe. Other organizations that she belonged to were Daughters of the American Revolution, State Chairman of Genealogical Records; Daughters of the American Colonists, state chairman of genealogical records and chapter regent; National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century, past state chaplain, state first vice president and chapter president; United Daughters of the Confederacy, past state chaplain and past chapter president; Magna Charta Dames, past chapter regent; Huguenot Society of Manakin Towne, past state registrar; Daughters of Colonial Wars, past state registrar; Jamestowne Society; Dames of the court of Honor; United States Daughters of 1812; First Families of South Carolina; Huguenot Society of South Carolina; and the south Carolina Historical Society. Mrs. Bell authored over twenty books on genealogy and history and shared her musical talent on the piano with most of the above organizations.
Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by her husband, Wilton O. Bell, Jr. and her son, Shelby Bell and is survived by her daughter, Margaret Ritter and her husband Robert Ritter, Jr. of Kansas City, MO; sister, Mary Adams of Statesboro, GA; four grandchildren, Benjamin, Daniel, Lydia, and Grace Ritter, nieces, a nephew and numerous friends.
Visitation will be 1:00PM until service time at Covenant Presbyterian Church.
