Ola Jordan Conrad

September 18, 1919 — July 12, 2016

Mrs. Ola Jordan Conrad, 96, of West Monroe, La., passed at last to heavenly peace in the late evening hours of Tuesday, July 12, 2016. Mrs. Ola was born on September 18, 1919, in Hensley, Arkansas. She is preceded in new life by her Husband, Marvin C. Conrad, Sr.; daughter, Peggy Conrad Owens; parents, Charles R. And Edna M. Jordan; and siblings; Lillie Mae Patterson, Silas Jordan, Gertrude Dean, Nelma Ruth Todd, Marvin Jordan, Jimmy Jordan, Johnny Jordan, and Vernice Lampkin. Survivors include her children; Imogene Edwards, Marvin C. Conrad Jr. and wife Terry, Larry J. Conrad and wife Margaret, Janie M. Hughes and husband, Joe; 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren; sister, Lucille Franks and husband KH; son-in-law Tom Owens, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Mrs. Ola was a lifetime professional mother and home maker, not only to her own children, but to any children she suspected of being in need of her attention. She baked (her yeast rolls coming out of the oven will always be fondly remembered), she sewed (she would see a particular picture of a dress, shirt, suit, and get some material and make an even better version of it), she budgeted (so many stories to tell). And of all that, her only credit was the response of her children to 'I hope it’s fit to wear, to eat– etc.” So many times, she showed us how to stretch resources to fit the need. Now, she’s returned to her loving husband of 43 years (she was a widow for nearly that long) and to her Holy Father, Savior, and Comforter, whom she served with deepest devotion and faithfulness at Trinity Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 5:00PM until 7:00PM on Friday, July 15, 2016, in West Monroe at Mulhearn Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 16, 2016, by Rev. Purvis Rodrigues in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with interment to follow beside her loving husband in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.Mrs. Ola’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
