Funeral services for Robert W. Ellington Jr., 95, of Monroe, will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 19, 2015 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, with Rev. Job Edathinatt officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.Bob passed away on December 17, 2015. Bob was born June 26, 1920, in Alexandria, LA, the son of Robert W. Ellington, Sr., and Ada Belle Stockman. Robert grew up with one sister, Sue Ellington Daniel, who has preceded him death. He was a graduate of Menard High School in Alexandria, LA.Bob fell in love with and married Jessie Mae Morgan, his companion and beloved wife for 65 years. To them were born 6 children, Margaret Beth (preceded in death), Susan Ellington (Jerry Braud) of Benton, LA, Katherine Ellington Spencer (Thomas Spencer, deceased), Patrick Ellington (Brenda Owens), Robert W. Ellington, III, all of Monroe, LA, and Dr. Julie Ellington Turner (Bill Barlow) of Peachtree City, GA. His memory is carried forward with 9 grandchildren, Jack Ostteen, Morgan Cole, Jake Spencer, Jess Spencer, Jessie Shadowens James, Christine Skogsberg, Craig Turner, Lauren Turner, and Nicole Turner; 9 great grandchildren, Delaney Webb, Reagan Cole, Curry Spencer, Cam Spencer, Cason Spencer, Myles Spencer, Emerson James, Jeffrey McCool, Olivia Turner; numerous nieces and nephews; and cherished family friend, Vallie Jackson.Bob served with the 69th US Naval Construction Battalion, European Theater, during World War II. Bob and Jessie moved to Monroe, LA, in 1951, where they made their permanent home. Bob owned and operated the family businesses Ellington Construction Company and Relco Exploration Company. Bob was a charter member of Our Lady of Fatima Church and was involved in various church and civic organizations: Knights of Columbus, Jaycees, American Legion Post 13 and board member of Security Bank. On April 14, 1998, Bob was awarded the Diocesan Medal presented by most Rev. Bishop William B. Friend in recognition of service to Our Lady of Fatima Church. Bob lived a rich, full life, filled with love and laughter. Daddy always said, “This ole world has been good, kind and generous to me.” He will be deeply missed and loved by family, friends and all the caregivers at St. Joseph’s Home.Visitation is from 12:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
