Mrs. Sammie Jean Wallis Redding, R.N.Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA   Funeral Services for Mrs. Sammie Jean Wallis Redding, 77, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday May 31, 2007 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA with Rev. Mark Fenn officiating.  Interment will follow in the Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe, LA. Sammie Jean was born on September 24, 1929.  She went to be with the Lord, family and friends on May 28, 2007 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness.  Sammie graduated from St. Francis Nursing School in 1950.  She worked many happy years as a RN on the OB/GYN floor at St. Francis.  There she shared in the joy and excitement of new life.  Sammie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Gladys Wallis; two sisters, Doris Rhodes and Mary Lou Johnson; one brother, Leroy Wallis and a infant daughter. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of fifty-six years, Ivy R. Redding; one daughter, Kala Nolan and husband Donald “Peanut”; two sons, Danny Redding and wife Renee and Jerry Redding and wife Janie; two grandsons, Brad Nolan and wife Ginger and Ryan Redding; Four granddaughters, Betsy Roark, Sara Beth Redding, Emily Redding and Allison Redding; one great grandson Philip Roark; one sister Pat Bailey of Glenmora, LA and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be grandsons Brad Nolan and Ryan Redding; nephews Reggie Freeman and Robbie Freeman; David and Scottie Redding. Honorary pallbearer Bruce Redding. The family would like to thank Dr. Don Hammett and Staff, Landmak Nursing Home, and Oretha Bond’s Sunday school class at First Baptist West Monroe for the love and care given to our Mother. Memorials by be made to The First Baptist Church of West Monroe Building Fund.
