Stephen Allen Newton

Memorial services for Stephen Allen Newton, 59, of Monroe, will be held at 11:30 AM, Thursday, May 2, 2013 at the chapel at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Job Edathinatt officiating.
Mr. Newton passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his father Donald Newton and nephew Dylan Barke’. He is survived by his wife Nancy; mother, Agnes Beaver of Slidell, LA; brother, Donnie Newton and wife Dot of Lander, Wyoming; sister, Jan Barke’ and partner Tim Painter of Bradford, Pennsylvania; stepson, Carter Hay and wife Stephanie; and stepdaughter Ashley Hay. Other survivors include: nieces Gillian and Brittany Barke’; Tori Newton; Nephews Gavin Barke’; Jake Newton; granddaughter Ellis Hay; special friend Jerry Donahoe.
Mr. Newton was born on February 20, 1954 in Monroe, LA. He graduated from Northeast Louisiana University in Psychology. He worked for Ford, Bacon and Davis, and most recently as a medical headhunter.
Steve enjoyed golf, scuba diving, reading, cooking and politics. One of Steve’s greatest joys was cooking his fried turkey for family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with his pets Molly, Bella, Jax, and Baby Kitty. Steve was an incredible, loving husband and grandfather. He will be missed dearly by those that had the pleasure of knowing him.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time, Thursday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Awareness and Research.
