Funeral Services for Mr. Tommy Malcolm Thiels, 71, of Monroe, LA, will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 23, 2021, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, with Fr. Jerry Daigle officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe.

Mr. Thiels was born October 29, 1949 and passed away on February 11, 2021. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam. Mr. Thiels was member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He enjoyed farming, cows, horses, bailing hay, hunting, fishing, catching, cooking and eating crawfish, and most of all spending time with his children and grandchildren. He retired from the Union Pacific Railroad after 40 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Eva Dunn Thiels; siblings, Larry Rolland Thiels, Col. Jerry Michael Thiels; two sons, Michael Dewayne Thiels and James Malcolm Thiels; brother-in-law, Daniel Etheridge “Danny” Oquinn.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Rebecca Thiels; four children, Jason Patrick Thiels, Jeremy Thiels (Marcie), Joseph “Joey” Shelby Thiels (Catherine), and Rita LeAnn Thiels; six grandchildren, Anna Copeland, Colton Thiels, Kersten Lynn Thiels, James Dale Thiels, Jenna Shelby Thiels, and Josie Blaire Thiels; siblings, Rita Lavern Thiels Oquinn, Juanita Marie Thiels Poole (John), Virginia Dianne Thiels, Frances Geraldine Thiels Swain (Gary); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends.

Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe.
