William Dennis Bluford

September 5, 1955 — January 24, 2021

On September 5, 1955, God blessed William and Jessie Bluford with William Dennis Bluford. On Sunday, January 24, 2021, William was reunited with his late parents as he exchanged his cross for a crown and entered eternal peace.

At an early age, William accepted Christ at the St. Charles Catholic Church. He later joined Little Flower of Jesus Catholic Church in Monroe, LA, where he remained a faithful member until the very day God called him home.

William also lovingly known as “Pee Wee” and “Blue” grew up in West Monroe and graduated from West Monroe High School. He would later marry the late Phoebe Anding Nelson, and to this union one child was born.

To say that William was a hard worker would be an understatement. He was extremely passionate and dedicated all of his energy in performing to the best of his abilities and succeeding at all task he undertook. Once William ultimately retired after many years at Georgia Pacific Packaging in West Monroe, LA, he began devoting his time to driving the church van at Little Flower. This was a job he relished because of the relationships he had formed with many of the parishioners, especially the elderly. William was supportive and loved doing things to show his love for friends and his family. He was loved and respected by many. He was one of a kind as he went out of his way to lend a helping hand. He had an infectious smile and laugh that would brighten your day. He will be dearly missed; the genuine, warm, and loving kindness he wove into the life of those he encountered will live on forever.

William is preceded in death by his parents, William and Jessie L. Bluford, a sister-in-law Janis Bluford, a brother-in-law Vernon D. Gill, and a niece Yolanda F. Brown.

To cherish his memories, he leaves: one daughter, Summer S. Bluford of Shreveport, LA; one brother, Daryl Bluford of Monroe, LA, four sisters: Nita (Ernest) Bluford of Austin, TX; Tommie S. Gill, Romulus, MI; Jacqueline (Bruce) Shaw; Tonya (Kenneth) Reed of Monroe, LA; a special cousin, Mary Scott of Los Angeles, CA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and his Little Flower Church family.
