Funeral Services for William Talmadge “Bill” Armstrong, 87, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 10:00AM Wednesday, August 19, 2015 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with Rev. Oda W. “Tuck” Roberts officiating. Interment will be held in Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum.Mr. Armstrong was born on June 18, 1928 in Montgomery, AL and passed away on August 17, 2015 in West Monroe, LA. Mr. Armstrong was a member of the First United Methodist Church in West Monroe, LA. He was a graduate of Starke Military Academy and served in the United States Army Air Corps, he was one of the first pilots in the Strategic Air Command flying combat missions in World War II and the Korean War. After his military career he joined his father in the 1950’s in the family business, Armstrong Cricket Farm. Bill grew the cricket farm into the largest cricket farm in the world. He served as a past president of the American Cricket Growers Association. Bill continued his flying career as a Federal Aviation Administration Examiner and Flight Instructor mentoring many pilots in Northeast Louisiana.He was preceded in death by his parents Allen and Myrle Armstrong, Sisters, Virginia Durrence and Rosemary Wafford; and brother, Gene “Sonny” Armstrong.Survivors: wife, Mrs. Linda M. Armstrong; Sons, Jack Armstrong (Betty), Jeffery Armstrong, and Jim Armstrong (Crystal); Daughter, Juli Zopf (John); Step-children, Tammy Smalley (Buddy), Byron Turner (DeAnna), Dana Day (Darwin), Paul Turner (Sara); Daughter-in-law, Debbie Armstrong; Grandchildren, Chris, John, Brandon, Kristi, Paige, Jacob, Jessica, Lee Ann; 6 great-grandchildren, Bryce, Connor, Avery, Riley, Emma and Charlotte; and many other extended family members.Pallbearers will be Chris Armstrong, Brandon Armstrong, David Armstrong, Jacob Armstrong, Michael Ewing and Paul Turner. Honorary Pallbearers will be Paul DeLoach, Melvin Slack, and Carl Slack.Visitation will be from 4:30PM until 7:30 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA.Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the First United Methodist Church in West Monroe, LA.Online Registry/Condolences: www.mulhearnfuneralhome.com Arrangements under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.
